I have taken two trips to Kenya with Cross-Cultural Thresholds, and each have been life-changing for me. It feels like a journey to the heart of the world. Especially the experience in Kibera is completely unique. There are few opportunities in life quite like it. It opens the heart and mind in indescribable ways. And I think every human should travel to see wildlife in its own habitat as we did with CCT on the Masai Mara. You recover part of your own lost soul to witness animals in vast wilderness, those that have been marginalized and caged in so much of our inhabited world. Earth is meant to be experienced like this.

I kicked off 2012 with a fantastic trip to the Facing the Future school in Kenya. This was my second adventure with Cross-Cultural Thresholds, and my first time visiting the new school site. I met a group of Kenyan teen volunteers and mentors at Facing the Future whom I’ll never forget. Their hope for a bright future and love for the children at the school was inspiring. I cannot wait to return!

Traveling with Cross-Cultural Thresholds, my daughters and I had an incredible life experience. We visited the second largest slum in the world, worked side-by-side with children who taught us about resilience and joy, and stretched our hearts immeasurably. It was the best investment I’ve ever made.

My trip to Kenya to volunteer at the Drug Fighters School was a life-altering experience. Fellow trip participants and I helped to build a classroom, painted a mural, taught English, and fell in love with the kids at the school. Whatever I gave was returned to me in ways I could never have imagined. It was an incredibly powerful experience that I’ll never forget.
